Family and Friends:
Faith and I are HOME! Her exam today went really, really well. Her doctor said that Faith's eyes look GREAT and we can extend her next visit to nine-months!!!!!
The scheduling today was so good. She had the MRI first, so the prep time to prepare her for anesthesia was significantly less. The anesthesiologist kept her sleeping from MRI to the OR for her eye exam and her eye drops were administered while she was asleep. This made things so much easier as she hates the drops and fights, kicks, screams, and makes Superman look like a wimp.
Waking from anesthesia was a little tougher, though. Her tummy is so empty by this time and combining that with the anesthesia and other medicines she receives makes her tummy sick. She tried a freezie...and that came up. She tried some crackers...and those came up. She just wanted to go home...and for the first time did NOT want to make her routine stop at McDonald's for chicken nuggets and french fries.
She kept her little eyes closed the whole way home. We have now been home for about an hour...and her eyes are stilled closed. She requested a bowl of Wheaties, which I fed to her due to her not opening her eyes and she gobbled it up so fast that I could hardly get the spoon back in her mouth quick enough. She is still on the couch...eyes closed...with a damp washcloth covering her eyes.
