SCOTT...YOU MADE ME PROUD

I'm so proud of my husband today. You see, our pastor is on vacation so he asked Scott if he would fill in today and conduct the service as well as give the children's message and the main message. Scott has been asked to do this in the past by our previous pastor and it's always an honor for him to do this. Scott is an excellent speaker. He has spoken at various events, mainly related to cancer. Today, however, topped anything he's done in the past. It may not have been evident to anyone else in church today, not even his parent's who came to join us, but there was something that maybe only I noticed. It was very evident to me how very much Scott has grown in his life. His spiritual life, his personal life, his family life, his professional life. He has never been one to lack confidence or to ever feel intimated by speaking. However, today he just seemed so much more relaxed than I have ever seen him when talking to a group of people. His message to the children is what really struck me as the most special. The kids all sat so close that Scott could hardly move. One little girl, Clare, who is four, was practically sitting on his lap. He talked to them about times in their lives when they just "can't figure it out." He showed them a Rubik's cube and asked them if any of them had ever completed it. No one had. The all agreed it was a hard thing to figure out. He asked them what computer resource was available to them if they ever needed an answer about something specific. He knew Parker would know the answer because we reference this resource often in our home when a question comes up about how something works, or how it's made or what it means, etc. Parker was the one who gave the answer Scott was looking for when he answered, "You Google it!" Exactly! Google. Google gives us lots of answers to our questions. But then he asked them what was an even BETTER way to seek answers to our questions, mainly things about life. The kids answered, "God." Again...EXACTLY! "Did Jesus have Google?" No. "Who did Jesus seek for answers?" God. "God can give us the answers. Maybe not always the answer we WANT to hear, but the answer that is right." Then, Scott ended by saying, "So, the next time you just can't figure it out, "Godle" it, instead of "Google" it."

Scott has definitely missed his true calling in life. Several people told him that today. Several people told me that today. Several people told Scott's parents that today. Now, we just need to help him "figure it out." Guess we'll have to "Godle" it.
