NEVER A DULL MOMENT...

• As most of you know, Faith's right eye hemorrhaged about two weeks ago. We ended up seeing two doctors in Illinois (it happened when we were there for Scott's grandmother's funeral). When we returned home, Faith and I headed to Rochester to see her regular doctor. She has been "laying low" since then...no running, riding bike, scootering, playing outside at recess or in the gym or playroom at school, no tumbling, sommersaults, etc. She's been doing lots and LOTS of coloring and playing on the computer as well as puzzles and painting. Yesterday was the first day she was not seeing the "purple", which is what led us to doctors who figured out her eye hemorrhaged. With the weather getting slightly warmer and Faith being one who likes to play outside, especially on the swings...the "laying low" is getting a little more difficult to do.
• On Tuesday, Parker played outside after school. He came inside and said, "Mom, this hurts." When I checked to see what it was that hurt, he showed me a tiny lump on the tip of his clavicle. I immediately called to schedule an evening appointment at one of our pediatrician's offices and they saw him that evening. The doctor said that it was a "supraclavicular node" and that Parker's oncologist would most likely want to take a look at it. So, on Wednesday, Parker and I made the trip to Rochester again to see his oncologist, who was supposed to be available, but when we got there, she wasn't. So we had to see a different pediatric oncologist who told us that the lymph node was just a little swollen, probably due to a cold or some slight viral infection. She ruled out anything cancerous due to the fact that the lump was mobile (you could almost roll it around in your fingertips) and that it was not attached to anything. Cancerous tumors don't move around and they are more hard and thick. We are to watch it and obviously if it get larger we need to call, but otherwise, we need to followup with our pediatrician in two weeks. Parker and both left Rochester feeling like a huge weight had been lifted.
• Today, Thursday...my mom called to tell me my dad had a tough night. He has been diagnosed with chrone's Disease and also has gallstones. He was vomitting last night and slept most of today. Mid-afternoon he woke up only to vomit a few more times. She called the doctor who told her to take him to emergency and to make sure the emergency doctors know he has both chrone's and gallstones. She just called a short while ago to let me know that they were starting an IV, running some blood tests and would probably be doing a CT scan. They are also giving him something for pain. The pain, however, is not in the area where the gallstones are so it doesn't sound likely that the gallstones are the problem. Not sure what the next steps will be.

So, like I said...there's never a dull moment at our house. I know we have lots of people praying for our family on a continuous basis. Some just never take us off their prayer lists...and for that we are extrememly grateful. Feel free to add my dad, now, too.
