Saturday was the annual elementary school Tiger Fun Fair held at the Activity Center. My how my children have progressed since last year. I'm usually all for going to these things, but dread the "running out of tickets" and the "time to go" process. However, this year was different. We purchased $20 worth of tickets which gave Parker and Faith 40 tickets each. Every game / activity takes anywhere from one to five tickets...mostly one or two. At the games, there is a winner every time...either a bucket of larger prizes or a bucket of smaller prizes. So...off we go to play. I took Faith, Scott took Parker and we'd meet up along the way. Faith played a few games but used most of her tickets on the huge inflatable obstacle course. Parker played a few games but had the most fun at the inflatable jousting arena. He ran into his buddy from Sunday School and they wanted to joust. However, his buddy didn't have enough tickets. They each needed five. So, Parker (without any prompting from Scott) willingly handed over five tickets to his friend so they could do the activity together.
When we met up, Parker had nine tickets left. He handed four to his sister and they headed back to the inflatable obstacle course so they could go through it together. One ticket left for Parker to throw the football through the swinging tire and we were done. No fussing. No arguing. No nothing, except, "Okay, can we eat now?" So, we headed to the cafeteria for hot dogs, Sloppy Joe's, cotton candy, snow cones and mini donuts. Twenty more dollars, 40 more tickets and full tummies. Two tickets left after food purchases. Neither one of the kids even asked to use them for something else. They both agreed that we should hand them off to another kid to use. So, we found a little guy...probably three years old...and gave him our two remaining tickets.
Time to go. Again...no fussing. No arguing. No nothing, except, "When we get home, can we watch some TV before we go to bed?"
"You bet you can! And by the way...we're very proud of how you both behaved tonight at the Fun Fair! Great job, Parker and Faith!"

Isn't it so nice to be able to have a successful outing?! I love those kinds of outings (rare as they are at times)
